The Stockport Plaza Variety Theatre and Super Cinema

A grand title for what is, without a doubt a very grand building. The Stockport Plaza Variety Theatre and Super Cinema is a magnificent example of a type once found in every town and has been restored as a labour of love to its original purpose making it the last of its kind in the UK.

The cafe/restaurant has been meticulously brought back to life using old photos and the original furniture tracked down with the help of Lloyd Loom of Spalding. They have made 200 new chairs in the Spalding factory which almost exactly match the originals from the 1930s – even the colour used, “Naples Green”, is from an original Lloyd Loom formulation.
